A national conference with a crowd-sourced agenda. This is part of our work to affect permanent change around the roles, representation and recognition of women in music. The day featured provocations, conversations and practical how-to sessions with leading music industry figures and innovators, such as Beth Orton, Chi-chi Nwanoku OBE and Claire Mera-Nelson (Arts Council England).
The next step is the development of a brand new ‘manifesto’ for gender equality in music which we’ll take to policy makers, people of influence and into the political sphere.
A six-part series of events bringing together pioneering women at the forefront of music, art and science. Part of the Great Exhibition of the North 2018 in Newcastle, events featured live music, conversations and original commissions from some of the North’s most exciting musicians and scientists including Jane Weaver, Anna Meredith, Stealing Sheep and Haiku Salut, with guest appearances from Nemone, Nadine Shah and Lauren Laverne.
Two all day festivals taking place in both Leeds and Sheffield, featuring all women / women led bands and artists with headline performances from Stealing Sheep, The Tuts and She Drew The Gun.
