Cat Scott

Cat Scott is an artist who uses scientific ideas, to create impossible landscapes that explore the deceptive nature of scale. She creates hybrid, kinetic media installations and experiences that allow audiences to enter an intimate, cosmic space that we, as humans, cannot physically experience ourselves. She collaborates with artists, scientists and technologists as a member of The Superposition and through residencies in institutions, organisations and studios. Cat has exhibited her work and has done residencies across the UK, Europe and internationally, most recently at the ACC in South Korea.

“I’ve been trying to develop the sound art side of my work for a while, but there are many barriers facing women and artists who are new to the sound world, so I believe this residency will break down those barriers. I’m excited to have the opportunity to experiment and learn new skills in a ‘safe space’ with the Brighter Sound and Electric Storm team, whilst collaborating with other talented artists, musicians and composers in Manchester. This residency will enable me to develop my independence using sound as installations and to test them as performances, for the first time.”
