Brighter Sound presents a ten week course for beginner and continuing guitar players at Band on the Wall. Learn to play the guitar in the way you want.
This course offers personalised one to one tuition with Noel Maher in the easy informal setting of the Education room at Manchesters greatest live music venue. Open to adults and young people over 16, it is a great one to one course of lessons for beginners.
The course encompasses the fundamental set of guitar skills and techniques, whilst remaining flexible enough to accomodate any students' individual abilities and personal musical tastes.
This course is taught in five week 'blocks'. During the first block (25 Sep to 23 Oct) beginners will learn to play some well known melodies and chord patterns, as well as how to read basic guitar musical notation and some of the fundamental techniques.
The second five weeks (6 Nov to 4 Dec) will expand on what has already been learned, introducing some more diverse and interesting tunes and techniques, as well as some elementary theory.
After ten weeks, students will have developed the skills and knowledge to develop their guitar playing independently and with confidence, with the option of returning for extra five week blocks of more advanced lessons at any time.
This course will be taught by Noel Maher. Noel is an accomplished solo acoustic guitarist and teacher. Noel performs as a solo artist regularly at many acoustic and open mic nights in Manchester and runs events at local venues throughout the city. He was taught folk guitar by his dad going on to explore styles ranging from Metallica to classical. He now specialises in fingerstyle techniques learning from greats such as Andy McKee, Erik Mongrain and Pierre Bensusan. He is passionate about passing on his knowledge and love for all things guitar.
