Event Highlight

  • This event has passed.

A space for women and people from marginalised genders to come together, develop skills on BandLab and meet new collaborators.

1-2pm – BandLab demo and Q&A with Aquilah Misuary

BandLab is an online platform where musicians from all over the world can come together to make, collaborate on and share music.

Aquilah will:

  • Demonstrate what the BandLab Mix Editor is, introduce you to the concepts of making tracks, adjusting volume and panning, and getting set up to record
  • Dive into creating a track using BandLab Loops, showing you how to find sounds by instrument or genre and arrange them to make a great sounding track
  • Show you how to take your tracks all the way through to publishing, demonstrating how to use BandLab Mastering on all types of audio to get your music optimised for distribution and sharing

2-3pm – ‘Speed-meeting’ session

An opportunity to connect with like-minded artists and find new collaborators for the future. Each attendee will meet to chat for 3-4 minutes, before moving on to the next person. At the end of the session there will be the chance to talk to others more informally.

We’ll then invite you to pitch for a ‘48-hour flash commission’ with someone you’ve connected with at the event.

How the flash commissions will work

  • After the workshop, we’ll be offering five pairs of new collaborators the opportunity to create a track using BandLab
  • You’ll have until the end of the day (Mon 26 Apr) to submit a proposal. Don’t worry we won’t be asking you for lots of info! Just a bit about who you are, and what you hope to explore
  • We’ll be in touch by first thing the next morning (Tue 27 Apr) to let you know whether you’ve been selected
  • You’ll then have two days to write and produce your track
  • Each artist will receive a fee of £200
  • Send your track to us by 9am on Thu 29 Apr and we’ll showcase it across our social media channels that same day (if you’d like us to!)
