Brighter Sound and Manchester Craft & Design Centre present Behind Closed Doors, a premiere performance by Avital Raz for Manchester After Hours.
Manchester After Hours is Creative Tourist’s one night only, city wide social. A mix of odd couplings and unexpected partnerships. A chance for you to get into places and spaces not normally open after hours, all for free.
Following last year’s successful After Hours event at Manchester Museum with Jason Singh and Giuliano Modarelli, we’re delighted to be part of another exciting programme for 2016. We’ve joined forces with Manchester Craft & Design Centre to commission musician Avital Raz to compose a piece of music/sound in response to Verity Howard’s ceramics exhibition Behind Closed Doors.
The commissioned piece will capture the intrigue of Verity Howard’s exhibition, which questions what lies behind the surface of people’s lives. It will connect to Avital’s unnerving musical style, bringing into focus the public space between Verity’s closed door houses to create an original and thought provoking After Hours performance.
The commission builds on both MCDC and Brighter Sound’s respective talent development and emerging artist/musician programmes, focusing on celebrating and profiling the work of exciting up and coming artists.
There are two performance times: 6:30pm and 7:30pm. Manchester Craft & Design Centre will be open 6-8pm.
There’s plenty more to choose from, all across the city, but for one night only. Visit manchesterafterhours.co.uk
