Topics covered will include releasing your music, labels, distribution, social media and digital marketing, image and branding, building a fan base, PR and finances.

Poppy Roberts is a vocalist, composer and producer who has worked across pop, electronic and urban genres with labels such as Apollo R&S, Fulfill Records and Scissor & Thread. She has written and performed with a number of artists and publishing houses (Durutti Column, Maceo Plex, Indigo…) prior to releasing her debut solo EP later this year.
Daisy Valentine is a keys/vocalist from Fuzzy Sun, and also a DJ/Producer from Stockport. She has a strong passion for music of all genres and began playing the piano at the age of 4. Throughout her childhood she picked up various other instruments including guitar, drums and singing. Around the age of 18 she fell in love with electronic music and began producing and djing around Liverpool, Manchester and Ibiza. More recently, Fuzzy Sun have completed their first UK tour and are hoping to release a brand new single ‘I Ain’t Right’ in the coming weeks!
Leanne Joseph started her career in the music industry in journalism. At the age of 16 she became music editor of youth run publication, Live Magazine, where she worked on features with artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Kelly Rowland, Rudimental and Miguel. Through this role and the blog SpeakerInk.com she quickly developed an interest in A&R resulting in her taking up roles at Parlophone Records as a scout. With a want to be more hands on with the artists, she moved to Maverick Management where she worked as a Management Assistant across established and developing acts. After two great years at Maverick Leanne left to start her own management company, Brave Management. Alongside this she took on the role as Product Manager at Full Stack Music Company, AEI Group. AEI look after YouTube brands such as UKF, SubSoul, TheSoundYouNeed, NoCopyrightSounds and more – developing them in and outside of YouTube.
OneDa is a female rapper and vocalist hailing from Manchester, UK. OneDa has been a part of the Manchester music scene for years and was formally in female rap duo ‘Batz in the Belfry’. She has been championed by the likes of Huw Stevens and Alice Levine (BBC Radio 1), and DJ Target (BBC 1xtra) who recently put her forward as one of his ‘High 5’ acts to watch out for in Manchester. Her track ‘M.U.S.I.C’ made it onto Tom Robinson’s (BBC 6 Music) music compilation for Manchester Pride. She has recently been made a Patron of the Music Venue Trust and is the first rapper to do so, alongside big named artists like Sir Paul McCartney and Elbow.
Laura Loughridge is a Manchester based music industry freelancer and owner of creative agency ‘The Bodhi Agency’. With experience across events, marketing, releasing and promoting music – she has worked with independent musicians as well as built up her client base to work with brands such as The North Face, Footaslyum and SONY music to name a few. Starting out her career in events and moving into content creation, music management and having her own band on the side – she has gained many transferable skills and is an all rounder in the music business.
This event is part of She Creates – a Both Sides Now project delivered in partnership between Brighter Sound and Z-arts.
