Our next artistic residency will be led by the brilliant Meklit Hadero. Ethiopian born, San Francisco based, Meklit’s music combines New York jazz, West Coast folk, East African sounds and everything in between.

We’re looking for musicians interested in experimenting, exploring and pushing their creative limits, to take part in this FREE residency. If you’re interested in collaborating with a truly global musician and developing your artistic practice alongside other musicians, we want to hear from you.
As well as being an amazing musician, who has released five albums, Meklit is a trailblazer and change-maker. Named as a TED Global Fellow in 2009, she co-founded the internationally renowned Nile Project, bringing together artists from 11 different countries, to overcome politics and conflict through musical collaboration.
Inspired by Meklit’s work on the Nile project, the residency will explore the active role we can take in shaping culture. Participants will work on articulating the stories that music can tell, and look at ways that music making can interact and impact upon people, cities and communities.
“The 21st Century is a time of mixing on an increasingly global scale. The world is our neighbourhood. Our friends come from everywhere. A generation of musical in-betweeners has been born, with roots in every sonic style and every corner of the globe” Meklit
Booking for the residency is now closed.
