Hannah Bitowski is an artist, designer and performer based in The Royal Standard, Liverpool. Hannah works within a range of disciplines, from costume, installation and prop-making, DJing and performance to artistic direction and event production – much of her work nestles among costume, movement and music with references to intersectional feminist politics, DIY aesthetics and queer subculture.
Collaboration is fundamental to Hannah’s practice – as part of Faux Queens, with Amy Ryan-Brew, the two work as a creative DJ-duo that use performance, costume and video to express and explore ideas of gender and sexuality. They have worked from supporting acts such as Peaches, producing theatrical performances at the Kazimier, to Artistic Directors for the festival Sounds From The Other City in Salford, in collaboration with Costumologists.
Additional collaborations include co-founding Queen of the Track – a cultural platform of independent media, promoting the voices and artistic practices of women and non-binary people, through a zine, online archive, DIY events and club-night’s.
