We’re thrilled to announce the ten talented musicians selected by Field Music to collaborate during a five-day studio residency.
Field Music brothers Peter and David Brewis will welcome the ten emerging musicians and writers into their studio space in Sunderland where they’ll explore the process of record-making, pulling apart and putting back together their own unfinished songs or loose ends to create a distinct collaborative record together.
“At some point, quite early on, we realised that no one was going to show us how to make the records we wanted to make – slowly and awkwardly we had to figure it out ourselves. I hope this project will be the kind of thing we needed back in 2001 – maybe a bit of inspiration, a few technical tips, a little kick up the arse and the fun of trying things out with a bunch of other musicians in a similar boat.” – David Brewis
The group include a singer / songwriter who has been described as a ‘rising star’ by Lauren Laverne, a member of Sheffield based trio Before Breakfast and a cellist / composer whose collaborators include The Unthanks, Floating Points and The Cure’s Roger O’Donnell.
