James Holt performs at the Royal Albert Hall

Brighter Sound emerging musician and trainee practitioner James Holt recently performed in front of a sold out crowd at the Royal Albert Hall. James was hand-picked to perform at the Music for Youth Proms in London following a regional FREQUENCIES event here at Band on the Wall.

My highlight of the performance would have to be the whole room clapping along to my song ‘Whatever Happened to John?’. I really enjoyed hearing the sound reverberate around the room, it was an amazing experience hearing it from the middle of that space – though at the time I was just concentrating on my playing and singing! I wasn’t nervous beforehand, I was more eager to just get on and play. I also loved watching the other performances from the various orchestras, brass/wind bands and ensembles.” – James Holt

James took part in Brighter Sound’s Chaos to Order at Manchester Central Library as an emerging musician, and is now one of our trainee practitioners, working alongside mentor Sara Lowes at Sing City. We’re delighted to share a short film of James performing ‘Oh Butterfly, Do Not Yet Float Away’.

I’ve gained a lot from this opportunity, I’ve gained valuable experience in how to address and connect with a large audience, and also how to occupy such a big space with just vocals and guitar. And I am very glad that I have this video footage to share with everyone, I know a lot of people who would’ve loved to be there and now they can share in the experience. I can’t thank Music for Youth enough for the opportunity they have given me and hopefully this video will draw more attention to them and their work.” – James Holt
