A masterclass with Michael Jackson’s guitarist

Jennifer Batten, Michael Jackson’s guitarist for a decade and one of the most respected guitar players of all time, joins us for a masterclass to share her tips and talk about the experiences at the very top of her profession.

In 1987, Jennifer was selected from over a hundred guitarists to play in Michael Jackson’s band, sparking a partnership that lasted over a decade and saw her play on seminal world tours including Dangerous, Bad and History.

Exemplary technique, inspiring talent and amazing versatility” Guitar International

Today, her highly original approach to guitar playing is renowned and recognised all over the world.  Her musicianship is unique combining elements of rock, African percussion, Australian didgeridoo, Caribbean steel drums and the Scottish bagpipes.

With three eclectic solo albums in her repertoire, two authored books and the development of a massively successful multimedia solo show, Jennifer is an inspiration and an ambassador for up and coming guitarists worldwide.

We’re delighted to welcome Jennifer for two events. We get started with practical masterclass for female musicians, age 14 to 25. Taking place as part of our Women in Music season, the event is open to young musicians of all instruments – being a guitarist is not essential. An audience with Jennifer Batten follows and features screen visuals, demonstrations and a Q & A session.
