Meet the Artists: DISRUPT

We’re really excited to announce the 11 artists who’ll be joining us for next week’s DISRUPT residency at the People’s History Museum!

Under the artistic guidance of Swing Ting’s co-founder Balraj Samrai, MC Fox and rapper Lady Ice, they’ll work intensively over four days to create original music based around themes of protest, resistance and liberation.

This eclectic group of MC’s, vocalists, producers, poets, rappers, beat makers and instrumentalists includes a member of female rap collective HERCHESTER, an MC and poet who has supported the likes of Children of Zeus and The Mouse Outfit, and a classically trained composer.

200 years since the Peterloo Massacre, the DISRUPT artists will reflect what the 1819 event means to young people in the city today. They’ll use the museum’s current exhibition Disrupt? Peterloo and Protest as inspiration, along with their own personal experiences.

The artists will showcase their brand new material at a special gig on Thursday night. Tickets are free (but limited) so book yours now!
