Chris Guénault is a trombonist and music educator based in the North West, graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2015. As a performer he has worked in a variety of genres including orchestras, big bands and pit bands. As an educator he has been a Live Music Now musician with the Slidin’ About Trombone Quartet and currently works for Lancashire Music Service and In Harmony Opera North. Chris has a real passion for all forms of musical education which has seen him work in schools, SEND settings, pupil referral units and care homes.

“The variety of projects on offer at Brighter Sound will give me the opportunity to participate in different forms of music-making. It will be great to meet new people who I can learn and take inspiration from to improve my creative abilities. I am looking forward to working with a mentor who can provide tailored guidance and help me to develop my skills as a facilitator so I can create better experiences for those who are involved in projects I work on.”

I like listening to different styles to suit whatever I am doing at the time. In particular, I am finding Sam Sweeney and his new album ‘Unearth Repeat’ perfect when I need to unwind. Radnor & Lee, Flying Lotus, Stars, Pat Metheny, Imogen Heap and the Vienna Brass Connection have all also been pretty high on my playlist recently along with lots of film soundtracks when I want to stop and read.
