For the final Hexagon Experiment – ‘Works In Progress‘ – on Friday 7 September we welcomed back Both Sides Now ambassador Anna Meredith for a residency and showcase with nine female/non-binary artists.
The residency saw the nine artists create new music and visual art inspired by the idea of Micro/Macro, exploring how innovative musical and visual ideas can be developed by expansion of the smallest detail or deconstruction of the broadest concept. Like her previous residency, Anna led the residency alongside guitarist and composer Jack Ross with help from visual artist Eleanor Meredith.
Ahead of the performance in a conversation hosted by BBC presenter and broadcast journalist Elizabeth Alker, Anna discussed her process of mixing classical, pop and electronic elements in her work, while Dr Oana Istrate from the National Graphene Institute at The University of Manchester revealed their latest developments.
