DJ Andrea Trout may tell you she spins for fun – but don’t let that fool you. A lack of the usual ego associated with those serious chaps who stand behind turntables making equally serious faces while tweaking their beards, makes her prone to underestimate a passionate, educated, heartfelt and un-hackneyed approach to music. With deep house, disco, soul and funk at its core, Andrea’s open mindedness impacts on inevitably unhinged dancers and beard stroking listeners alike. Playing under the moniker Trout for most of the time this has not gone unnoticed. A typical review remarked, ‘hear a diversity of sounds from ‘80s soul to Brook Benton by way of good pop and funk from the future’.

Vicky’s Tune – Omar (feat. Ty & Robert Glasper)

This tune is always in my record bag at the moment! Love the fact that Omar is a multi-instrumentalist and Ty’s rap is on point.

Show You The Way – Thundercat (feat. Kenny Loggins & Michael McDonald)

Another tune that is in my record bag at the moment. A really good soul song and Thundercat made good use of Kenny & Michael.

In the Stone – Earth, Wind & Fire

Any EWF tune makes you get up and dance or even just makes you smile.

Fourplay – Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns (feat. Maceo Parker)

The horns in this! Need I say more?

This Way – Mr Scruff (feat. Pete Simpson)

Couldn’t not put one of my hubby’s tunes in!

Time Will Tell – Bob Marley & The Wailers

The whole Kaya album is brilliant but this is one of my favourites.

Your Song – Billy Paul

This song is mine and my dad’s favourite tune. We danced to this together at my wedding.

I’m Always Dancin’ to the Music – Benny Golson

This is an old rare groove favourite and always gets the crowd dancing (see what I did there?)

Just Us – Two Tons O’ Fun

Great end of night tune.

Real Good Hands – Gregory Porter

I saw Gregory do this live and it brought tears to my eyes. He is really good about bringing out my emotions in his songs.
