We were lucky enough to hear from Jenna G first hand during our Young Musicians Week. If you missed it, don’t worry – she’s left us her top tips for making it in today’s music industry…
1) Lay the foundations. Make sure you source as many opportunities as you can, especially before 25 as that’s when most things stop being free. Plan to fail, and if you have to work around the clock, do it!
2) 50 shades of networking. Go to as many conferences and talks as possible. Make cool and interesting connections with as many people from different walks of life. Go out and socialize – clubs, gigs the lot!
3) Know The Business. Educate yourself; college, internet, Donald S Passman 9th Edition, masterclasses.
4) Don’t Be Lazy!
5) Reinvention. Roll with the punches, learn from the failures and mishap. Acquire a few more skills within the industry so that you are employable in more than one sense.
