We’re delighted to be collaborating with Leeds Playhouse to offer an exciting new Sound Designer traineeship.
Working at one of the largest and most active producing theatres in the UK, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work as Assistant Sound Designer on three Leeds Playhouse productions, create their own sound design for an intergenerational project Dinner 18:55, and receive bespoke mentoring by established Sound Designers.
Part of Both Sides Now, our groundbreaking programme to support, inspire and showcase women in music in the North of England, the intention of the role is to increase opportunities for female* Sound Designers.
The traineeship will take place over 10 weeks from 3rd January – 9th March 2019, and will be based at Leeds Playhouse. The role is paid, with a fee of £3650.
Applicants should have been born, raised or live in Yorkshire, and not currently be in formal education.
To apply you should:
- Have a demonstrable interest in using music and sound as a tool for storytelling
- Have a commitment to pursuing a career as a professional Sound Designer and/or composer
- Have some experience of creating sound for small scale theatre productions
- Be able to demonstrate a commitment to living and making work in Yorkshire.
