Alison Wenham OBE

Alison Wenham OBE has spent over 40 years working in the music industry, and is one of the most experienced and well known practitioners in the business. She was a Founder and CEO/Chairman of UK Trade Association AIM from 1998 through to 2016, guiding it through growth in membership, stature and influence. She was the founding CEO of WIN, the Worldwide Independent Network. WIN’s membership stretches across every continent, with trade associations in all the well-developed music markets taking a particularly active role – including AIM (UK), A2IM (USA), AIR (Australia), CIMA (Canada), IMNZ (New Zealand), IMICHILE (Chile), ABMI (Brazil), ASIAr (Argentina), IMCJ (Japan), and IMPALA representing the whole of Europe. She was awarded an OBE in 2010 for Services to the Creative Industries, The Order of Arts and Letters from the French Government in 2014, and was recognised for Outstanding Contribution at the annual Women in Music Awards in 2018. She is a visiting Fellow at Warwick University and holds an honorary MA at the University of Hertfordshire. In previous lives, she was the MD and shareholder of Conifer Records, the UK’s leading independent specialist distributor and record company, and after selling to BMG in 1993, became Managing Director of BMG Conifer until 1998.
