Brighter Sound wins at Manchester Culture Awards

We're chuffed to have won in the Promotion of Talent and Leadership category at this year's Manchester Culture Awards.

Members of Brighter Sound stood arms around one another smiling for a photo following the company's win of the 2022 Manchester Culture Awards, trophy in the hand of one member on the right. Behind them projected onto the wall is the award ceremony's branding.

Following our previous win in 2019 in the same category, we’ve claimed it once again. This time round, the award is in recognition of our Both Sides Now Leadership Programme.

Building on the success and impact of our gender equality work, this programme has provided 120 leadership development opportunities for women and people of marginalised genders working in music. This included business start-up training for innovators and entrepreneurs, work placements with industry partners and management training focused on authentic leadership styles.

Part of Arts Council’s Transforming Leadership fund, we’re thrilled to have supported emerging women leaders to develop resilience, improve confidence and influence change in the music industry.

Launched in 2018 by Manchester City Council, the Awards are an annual celebration and showcase of music, art, theatre, literature, photography and more across the region.

Big congrats to all the winners and nominees from this year. Every year it goes to show just how creative and innovative the people of Manchester continue to be!

“As someone who hasn’t previously thought of themselves as a leader I found this programme to be transformational in enabling me to cultivate an understanding and portrayal of leadership that is personal and authentic. It has improved my confidence massively and helped me to trust my instinct and intuition in the decisions that I make now and for the future.”
