We were buzzing to commission this exciting international collaboration between Manchester-based collective MCR4PAL and Bethelhem-based radio station Radio Alhara back in August 2024.

The aim of this work was to spark conversations about the role of cultural collaboration in global solidarity movements. We hope you enjoy the sounds!

Stream and buy on Bandcamp - 50% of sales will go to the artists and 50% to mutual aid and direct action organisations.

The set begins with Wlknokia’s dark soundscapes, searing low-end and brooding calls to action from yeguachita on “Arenas”.

Up next we follow the everyday life and tales of resistance from RUUQ on the title track “¿Lesh La2?” (translating to “why not?”) over a shimmering, glowing Scytale production.

Uptempo yet conscientious, bubbling cut “Disbelief” features the Manchester pair (Scytale & yeguachita).

“Fatra” brings Scytale and RUUQ together once more for a laid back yet poignant head-nodder complete with a guitar solo.

Final cut “KUNTUR” reunites yeguachita with WlkNokia who provides a sinister ‘LoveMusic’ beat for a tale of indigenous solidarity from Abya Yala to Palestine.

Head to Mixcloud to hear producer Samrai chatting to the featured artists about the EP.

About the Artists

  • MCR4PAL are a group of creatives based in Manchester who came together in 2023 to advocate for solidarity with the people and artists of Palestine. To date, they have released two compilations from over 150 musicians raising over £7000 for relief in Palestine. They have also produced Collective Voices For Palestine, a zine of art, poetry, photography and essays, and organised events and film screenings as well as actively supporting other events and collectives in the city (and beyond, as the model for other location-based Bandcamp compilations around the world).

  • Radio Alhara - Alhara, meaning ‘the neighbourhood’ - launched in 2020, full of experimental programming. Their output came to be known for its Sonic Liberation Front, a form of sound as protest with stations around the world in solidarity at Alhara’s protest at the eviction of families from the occupied district of Sheikh Jarrah, and the ongoing ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. The station continues to broadcast shows from residents around the world in support of this.
